Our story
Making small batch, inventively flavoured real dairy ice cream, sorbet and vegan ice cream since 2010, Ginger’s was started as a passion project by Claire Kelsey, then a chef and food stylist, with no other aim than to refurbish an old ice cream van into something quirky and useful.
The rough idea was to perhaps sell different produce throughout the year, but seeing as it was an ice cream van, she started with that and didn’t move on. Some of our most bonkers and delicious flavours were conceived then, and are still best sellers today like ‘Marmalade On Toast’, ‘Olive Oil & Sea Salt’, and ‘Chorlton Crack’ - salted caramel peanut butter.
The blank canvas of milk and sugar provides endless possibility for invention, and 10 years later with several British Street Food Awards under our belt, a city centre ice cream bar, and our own recipe book “MELT” published by Simon & Schuster, quality, innovation and creativity are still the cornerstones of our success.

Visit the parlour
Our shop/parlour (call it what you will, we like “Chorlton Crack den”!) is open from 10.30am – 6pm, Monday – Saturday, (11am – 5pm Sunday) on the first floor of Affleck’s Palace in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
